Visit Staunton, VA
We’re frequently asked about places to eat, sleep, and explore in out beautiful historic town. Here are our recommendations:
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library – President Wilson’s birthplace is here – we’ve enjoyed visiting the house because it was built at the same time as our house and is in it’s original state. I wouldn’t want to give up my modern conveniences, so the visit is close enough.
The American Shakespeare Center – there’s nothing like seeing Shakespeare performed in this beautiful replica of the Blackfriars playhouse, it’s a great experience.
The American Frontier Culture Museum – Here you’ll see actual farms that have been dismantled, moved, and reassembled. The staff dresses in authentic clothing and performs daily tasks to give you a taste of early farm life. The kids love it, I love it when Jim takes them.
More up my alley…
Design at Nine…OMGoodness fabulous shoes and clothes.
Karen’s Emporium – close to my house, Karen has fun jewelry and great primitive antiques, my porch is filled with her goodies.
LTD 7 – another really fun shop, what doesn’t come from Karen’s comes from LTD7
The Emporium – a great selection of fun stuff.

Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Hampton Inn have both received wonderful reviews from families visiting Old Mill Doodles.
Staunton has lots of other lodging choices, hotels and B&B are plentiful, however, I don’t have reviews to offer.
