Old Mill Goldendoodles
Are the perfect combination of high intelligence, low to no-shed coats, and family friendly personality. Most of the families that come to us have either previously owned, or grown up in a home with a retriever or spaniel and are seeking the same great personality they’ve always loved – they simply want less shedding.
Old Mill Goldendoodle puppies are happy fluff balls ready to become a new member of your family. We’ve bred dogs for almost 30 years and are very proud of the well socialized, healthy puppies we consistently produce.
Health
Good puppies begin with good parents and the golden retrievers in our breeding program come from a long line of health tested and certified dogs, dating back to the late 1980’s. I know this because the breeder we now purchase our girls from began her breeding program with some of our dogs. We have carefully selected our males from breeders that have the same level of dedication to breeding top quality dogs that we do.
Shedding
Our F1 Goldendoodles typically have a very low-shed coat; we’ve found them to be great pets for mild to moderate allergy sufferers. For moderate to severe allergy sufferers, we recommend an F1B Goldendoodle, as the 75% Poodle will produce a dog with less dander and a coat closer to non-shedding.
We encourage someone with an allergy issue to visit prior to a purchase and spend time with a puppy to verify their tolerance. Between our two breeds, I’m certain you’ll find a good match.
Colors
Old Mill Goldendoodles come in the various colors you’ll find in AKC Golden Retrievers. We regularly have puppies ranging from light cream to dark red and all shades in between. Take a look at some of our puppies on Instagram #oldmilldoodles
Grooming
Goldendoodles tend to have a way coat. Frequently, their waves don’t appear until the adult coat comes in at 7 months, on average. Most families prefer a shorter coat that would need to be brushed weekly. If you prefer a longer coat, it will require brushing more frequently to keep it mat free. More information pertaining to grooming can be found on our Old Mill Doodle Blog page.
Size
We use two different size poodles to breed our goldendoodle. Both are AKC Standard Poodles even though there is a large variation in their size, the smaller Moyen poodles are under 40 lbs, and will produce puppies that range from 35 lbs. to mid 50 lbs. Our larger standard poodles will produce female goldendoodles from 50-65 lbs. and males 65 lbs. and up. Of course, these are size estimates only.
Exercise
Goldendoodles are very easy going and lovable dogs. They adapt beautifully to their family’s living conditions and activity level/ They do best with moderate daily exercise. A couple of walks or games of fetch in their yard with keep them happy and healthy.
